This one isn't mine, a company I work with runs it. I've worked with them long enough to send guests their way without thinking twice. It's a bigger group than what I do on my own walks, six to twelve people riding together instead of the six I cap myself at, so know that going in. Different shape of day, still a good one.
Pickup is by car or van somewhere between 7:30 and 8 in the morning, out to My Tho. The whole thing runs eight to ten hours and you're back in Saigon that same evening.
First stop is Vinh Trang Pagoda. From there it's a boat on the Tien River out toward Tortoise Islet, in through Bao Dinh Canal and into Ben Tre.
That's where it slows down. A rowing sampan takes you through the narrow canals, then you're walking through a village on foot, past a coconut workshop, with fresh fruit and honey tea waiting and local islanders playing music while you sit. If a tuk tuk or electric cart is free that day you'll get a ride around the village too, depends what's around. Lunch is at a garden restaurant on the river, five main dishes and a dessert. Afterward there are bicycles to borrow, free, if you want to pedal around before the drive back.
Not included: dinner, and anything you spend on yourself along the way.
Under 4 goes free. Ages 4 to 9 pay 75 percent of the adult price. 10 and up pay the full 900,000.
Pickup and drop-off is at your hotel in District 1. Staying somewhere else, meet at 55B Do Quang Dau, District 1, and you'll go from there.
